Aimee’s untimely death as a victim of domestic violence has robbed her family of a daughter, a sister, an aunt; her friends of her friendship; her teammates of her enthusiasm and the volleyball community of a dedicated coach, player and organizer. Her dedication and passion to her sport has prompted us to organize this charity tournament in her memory and to donate all proceeds to the Canadian Women’s Foundation.

The goal of this project is to support an emerging organization:
DWAVE: Deaf Women Against Violence Everywhere.
A digital storytelling program will allow the women to learn technological skills and explore their personal and community experiences with violence. There will be up to eight deaf young women involved in the program. DWAVE will lead a workshop on violence against deaf young women and girls for another twenty participants using the stories as a teaching tool. This program began in December 2005, and is expected to run until May 2007.

For the past 18 years, thousands of participants have played and partied on the spectacular Toronto Islands while helping HOPE to raise nearly $1 million for the small, but essential Toronto charities that can get overlooked.

With over 400 teams, the tournament offers volleyball for players at all levels; from first-timers to pros a fun tournament at a modest price...

On May 25 and 26 Team Canada will play Finland to kick off the 2007 World League campaign and it will be see them begin on Canadian soil at the John Labatt Centre in London, home of 15-year Canuck veteran and international superstar Paul Duerden.   

After a three-week stint through Korea, Finland and Brazil respectively, the men’s national team will return to Canada to face 2004 Olympic gold medalist Brazil at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga on June 22 and 23.  Brazil, the number one ranked team in the world, has been crowned World League champions the last four consecutive years, and five of the last six.

On June 29 and 30 Canada’s Senior Men’s Volleyball Team will be at home in Winnipeg to face off against Korea at the MTS Centre.  This series will complete Team Canada’s preliminary round at the 2007 FIVB World League Volleyball competition and may prove to be the determining factor on who will advance to the final round in Italy!
